Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers about our adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program in Windsor

Yes! Almost all of our students had no experience at first. Yet with dedication and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training, they’ve become amazing athletes and martial artists. We’ll help you get there too.

When you first arrive at META BJJ of Windsor – all you need are some comfy athletic clothes and a water bottle. We’ve got the rest covered.

You might be nervous about your first class. That’s perfectly normal! As soon as you see how kind and welcome the instructors and other students are – that nervousness turns into excitement.

No matter your fitness level, you can train here. In martial arts – adults are in a group environment, but every one of us is on our own unique journey. You can go at your own pace. Some advance faster, others slower. That’s okay.

What’s important is that you’re having fun, challenging yourself, making friends, and growing stronger inside and out.

The coordination, strength, and speed comes with time – even in those who are not ‘natural athletes’!

Absolutely. While there is no ‘cure’ for ADD or ADHD, it can be managed. Our Windsor adults Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes help you develop the tools you need to maintain focus & concentration. It is especially helpful when you’re trying to do multiple tasks that divide your attention. Through following instructors, Windsor Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques, and mastering moves, adults develop tools to stay focused and on track.

If you’re looking at adult martial arts classes in Windsor you’ve likely come across Karate, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and more. Karate, Taekwondo, and Muay Thai focus on striking (punches, kicks, knees, and elbows). Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu focuses on grappling (wrestling with locks and grabs). It’s important to know how to both strike and grapple for the best self-defence. In the real world, most fights end up on the ground. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the most effective style for protecting yourself and your loved ones when this happens.

Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors are caring and attentive to every student’s concerns. Suffering from lower back pain, neck & shoulder pain, joint stiffness, or muscle weakness will likely not prevent you from having a fun, fulfilling class.

We’re not medical professionals, so any serious concerns should be discussed with your doctor first– but we are typically able to give you alternate exercises that don’t affect pre-existing injuries and honor your limits so you still have a great experience.
